Holiday action highlighted festivities at Aztec Speedway

AZTEC – Aztec Speedway returned to action on Saturday night, but not without a fight from Mother Nature.

Heavy rains earlier in the week forced some last minute adjustments to the track condition, but work by the track maintenance crew kept the surface worth for sprint car competition.

In the Stock Car division, Traci Bradley would get her first win of the season over Nathan Lemons, Allen Bradley, Race Fisher and Jay Kibel. Julian Garcia, Sr. would find victory lane for the first time this season in the Modified class followed by Keelan Matthews and Devin Roquemore.

In the Hobby Stocks featured event, Hunter Ferrell would find himself in victory lane followed by Kyler and Jason Duggins, Evan Ray and Leon Shim. Dustin Craig would get his first career win in the Sport Compacts, followed by Cody Witcher, Katie Barthel, Adrian Bradd, Jaden Kibel, and Mavery Holbert.

Shane DeVilbiss would get the win over Gabe Shim in the Modlite class.

Farmington’s Kyler Duggins found victory lane in the featured event in the Hobby Stock Class followed by Evan Ray, Michael Bray and Jason Duggins. Since 2022, Kyler Duggins has finished in the top five 42 times from 46 starts in featured races.

Shane DeVilbiss took the win in the Dwarf/Modlite class followed by Clay Goben, Cauy Ludwig and Terry Christensen. Katie Barthel found victory lane in the Sport Compact division followed by Alfred Hicks, Dustin Craig, Clayton Tillia and Paul Campos.

Aztec Speedway returns to action on the weekend of July 26 & 27 with POWRI 360 Wing Sprint Cars making their first appearance of the season. Fairgrounds Speedway in Cortez returns to action this weekend for the Jesse “J.D.” Minor Memorial. Racing begins at 6:30 p.m. for this weekend’s programs.

Kart Kanyon returns to action on Saturday after rains forced the cancellation of action on June 21 and 22.
